I love bath bombs. He loves this business! I have a room and linen spray recipe that uses a blend of distilled water and vodka and I think that would work too instead of the denatured alcohol and you might already have it. Im new to diy things. But do not worry it is easy to manage it. I want to make some for my daughters. That got the wheels turning in my little head.
This is a copycat recipe for the poopourri spray tried and tested! You spray it in the bowl before you go! The spray will create a barrier over to top of the water trapping all of the waste and odor below the barrier!!!
So basically by applying a spray on top of the bowl that has oil in it is will do the same thing. The stuff is amazing, freaking brilliant!
If you have no interest in making your own spray you can always find Poopourri on Amazon here too. This may show my age but… do you remember the Dawn dish washing commercial where they show you a greasy pan filled with water.
You then put one drop of dawn soap into that dish and it spreads the grease and grim to the edges making it almost disappear.
Spraying the top of the water with the spray to create that barrier you need. Now I am sure the the Poo Pourri company has a special blend of their own but I was hard core bent on creating my own.
I love essential oils and all the things we can do with them so I have a lot on hand. My experiment juices started flowing and before you know it I was testing and re-testing a concoction of my own! This started off pretty easy. Its has very low odor unlike rubbing alcohol. Denaturing refers to removing a property from the alcohol being able to drink it , not to chemically altering or decomposing it. It took me about 7 days to get the recipe just right. My money saving demands are rubbing off on him.
You can use more essential oils based on your likes. This is the blend that I found that smells exactly like the original Poo pourri spray and works just as good! I highly encourage you to mix and match your essential oils to create a smell that is pleasant to you if you want to experiment.
You will have to shake it up before using it though. I decided to go with a glass bottle for my bathroom and a plastic bottle for the kids bathroom. Other Uses for Denatured Alcohol:. If you love diy essential oil uses, you will love this Homemade Shoe-pourri recipe we created! Coconut oil will definitely clog the toilet over time. Pure essential oils are not of the same chemical structure as regular oils, they are actually the immune system of the plant. I saw someone mentioned using vodka- what is the benefit using that instead of distilled water or denatured alcohol?
Wondering if fragrance oils will also work? Thanks so much for your recipe. I change the essential oil to 25 drops each of lemon and lime essential oil.
I followed your recipe and made this but the oil keeps rising to the top. I am going to make this this week but have been looking everywhere for the blue glass bottle in your picture. Where did you find it? One drop of pure essential oil works just as well as or better than any spray you might use. If you want to make a blend, again, all you really need to dilute it in is water.
The denaturing is just to keep people from drinking it to get drunk off of. Hey can you use witch hazel and fragrance oils instead of essential oils? I await your response. I have not tried those Dolores. I would think if they are oils, they should work the same way. I would say give it a try! I have a room and linen spray recipe that uses a blend of distilled water and vodka and I think that would work too instead of the denatured alcohol and you might already have it.
Could one substitute just plain old glycerine in place of the vegetable glycerine? I have a huge bottle of it.
I love your recipe and am going to try it out as soon as you let me kinow about the glycerine. I would think glycerine, no matter the type, would still do the same job. I would try it! I put the sock in a jar, opened the top over the rim, and filled with cheap baking soda. Then I put in like 5 drops of essential oil, mixed it up with a wooden popsicle stick anything not metal should do, metal can change the makeup of essential oils , and tied the sock at the ankle.
Place them in the shoes and give them a few days, or however long it takes! We actually have a post about this shoe tip! We call it shoe-pourri! Check it out here: Hi, just an FYI, I tried the recipe using the denatured alcohol and it does still require you to shake the bottle.
We make this recipe often during the summer time so we wanted to include a few more process photos with detailed instructions on how to make this DIY Snow Cone Syrup recipe with the candy oils. We do many different versions and although we do have our favorites, many people love them all! Besides, these candy oils are very potent.
A little bit goes a long way! The recipe is the same as above. Make the syrup exactly the same way with 2 cups of sugar to one cup of water. Bring it to a boil for one minute and then let it set to cool down. Our family loves strawberry, pina colada, cheesecake and watermelon the most so I always make more of our favorite flavors.
There are tons of different Lorann candy flavors that you can see here on Amazon. They are much cheaper on Amazon too! My local Walmart did not have them in stock but the bigger Walmart stores might carry them.
I have a good friend that runs a Sno Cone Stand and he does very well during the summer. He has the best sno cones out of all of his competitors. He swears his secret is the homemade syrups because they are fresh! This recipe is the exact recipe he uses to create his syrups but he makes them on a much larger scale in big batches at a time. He sells a ton of snow cones. He is open 6 days a week and makes a new big batch of syrup every two days. He is retired and this is a business that does well for him and his wife during the summer months here in Texas.
His biggest complaint is running out of one dollar bills for change. He loves this business! He also gave me another tip. If you want to add cream to your snow cone be sure to use evaporated milk. It will be way to sugary.
The evaporated milk gives it the cream taste without the extra sugar. This is another good tip from my dear friend! The Lorann candy flavorings come in tiny bottles. You can purchase a dram dropper if you want to measure out the flavoring oils. I purchase a big pack of small eye droppers for 1 dram Lorann candy flavoring oils.
This was very helpful when making the flavored syrups. I used the 8 oz mason jars. I was start with a small amount of flavoring and add more to your taste. You can mix any of the flavor combinations together too. We like to mix the strawberry and cheesecake together. You can also make any flavor tart.
For example, we love to add Tart and Sour flavoring to our apple candy flavoring oil. You can find the tart and sour here on Amazon also. I have not seen this sold at my local stores. This bottle will last you a very long time. I would only add a few drops about 5 drops at a time and taste it in between. We love sour apple snow cones! You can also use a funnel. The funnel like these funnels found here work best because you can pack in the snow ice nice and tight.
